Untapped Nursing Opportunities for International Students

Learn more about U.S. based ABSN programs, how they work, degree requirements, job placement post-graduation & salary ranges, and how #internationalstudents can take advantage of the opportunities they offer with inSpring as a partner.

What is an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Program?

ABSN programs in the U.S. offer both domestic & international students with bachelor’s degrees in the fields of health sciences, a fast-track opportunity to obtain their #nursing degree. Students who have met the basic coursework requirements through their undergraduate degree can enroll in an accelerated curriculum that allows them to earn a BSN degree in under two years.

ABSN program tuition fees vary greatly based on the institution and can range anywhere from $25,000 to more than $80,000. As a result of the shorter duration of the program, international students can obtain funding through financial loan programs in the U.S. for the entire ABSN program.

Students who enjoy an accelerated learning experience and who thrive under retaining large amounts of information in a compressed window of time are the ideal candidate to earn an ABSN degree.

Degree Requirements

The overall requirements needed to obtain an ABSN degree vary widely depending on the academic institution. Here are some general requirements to be considered for an ABSN program admission.

  • An obtained bachelor’s degree from a recognized/accredited academic institution

  • Academic transcripts illustrating the GPA in all undergraduate coursework

  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of ≥6.5 or its equivalent (international students)

  • All prerequisite coursework obtained in both the fields of science and general education

  • Recommendation letters from educators

  • Basic CPR Certification

  • Background checks and drug screenings conducted by approved vendors

  • Documentation of vaccines prior to starting clinical rotations

Job Placement post-ABSN

As a direct result of the nursing shortage, #healthcare systems are partnering with academic institutions to establish a steady pipeline of new graduate Registered Nurses (RNs) to help guarantee job placements post-graduation.

Once a student obtains their ABSN, they can pursue careers in many environments, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, assisted/senior living facilities, clinics, etc.

Moreover, these new graduate RNs can pursue specific tracts in nursing care such as:

  • Medical Surgical

  • Emergency Room

  • Intensive Care Unit

  • Labor & Delivery

  • Psychiatric

  • Pediatrics

  • Critical Care

  • School Nurse

The salary range for a new graduate nurse varies widely depending on the field of specialization and can range from $50,000 to more than $100,000.

inSpring Academic & Career Placement Process

Due to the recent pandemic, the current domestic pipeline of new graduate RNs has diminished significantly over the past several years. Healthcare organizations are looking at alternatives to high-cost short-term staffing solutions that offer no substantial long-term staff retention.

As a result, international nurse staffing has emerged as the best and only solution to introduce a new/untapped pipeline of talented RNs into the U.S.

As the world’s talent mobility springboard, inSpring sources international candidates for US healthcare systems with in-house nursing schools and supports candidates from overseas throughout their education/post-graduation employment. The inSpring model helps academic organizations meet enrollment numbers while improving diversity and inclusion throughout the institution and beyond.

inSpring provides end-to-end student career guidance, visa/immigration support, and placement services catered to the specific needs of international students.

We are a student-first organization whose ultimate-goal is to ensure international students achieve their American Dream and build a path to generational wealth through working in the highest-demand fields in the U.S.
